ABOUT: Waterfall Topia
The Purpose: I know, I know. Just what the world needs, another narcassistic person with a waterfall site. The internet has a treasury of waterfall websites from Go Waterfalling to the World Waterfall
Database. These sites not only offer pics of an enormous catalog of falls, but tell you the geology, how to get there, etc... So why would I, a person with less than a century of waterfalls start a site?
Why not? I love waterfalls. I usually try to incorporate them into any trip I go on.
This website represents a couple of things. First, it is a scrapbook for my pictures so that these beautiful locations can be shared. Second, it is an attempt to synthesize the
best of each waterfall Internet site. There are Internet sites with good info, but poor pictures. Others Internet sites have great pics and limited info. My website tries to offer
truly representive pictures of these waterfalls, as well as down to earth information and directions regarding them.
Future Plans: What's to come in the future at Waterfall Topia? Right now, the website interfaces on a single page. Everything, from pics to location to tips will load when you click on
a waterfall. Currently, I'm developing individual pages for each waterfall that will offer enhanced driving directions, more tips and thoughts about the inidividual waterfalls
and down to earth information that will help you know what other falls are in the area. Of course, as time passes, more and more waterfalls will be added to the site as I visit them. I plan to revisit
Southern Ontario, Pennsylvania, Northeast and Southeast Ohio in the near to not as near future. Central New York, New England and possibly the Pacific Northwest are in the long-term plans.
Updates:
Programming Info and Appropriate Credits: For the most part, this website was scripted by myself. However, a few parts were lifted, with implied permission, from instructionary websites on DHTML, Javascript and CSS. Any script that was lifted is noted and credited within the code. Below is what I used from other authors.
Map info: In order to help visualize the locations of these sites, I used a pair of public domain mapping services to generate the maps seen throughout the site.
Web Credits: There is an ancient Native American saying, "He who has the most expansive Internet Site hid his sources the best." Alright, that may not actually be an ancient Native American saying. Regardless, thanks the Internet, so much information is available to people and I'd be terribly misleading if I led one to think I discovered all of these sites myself. While all the photos and information I offer on this website are entirely my work, so many locations and my ability to find them were thanks to the work of others. Below are the main sources up to now regarding my own waterfall hunting.
